We have been staring at this plan for nearly three years now and have finally gathered the ambition to get started. A few things have changed since we decided on this plan, like the front yard layout and the rectangular shrub fence but this is pretty much it.

Today we begin construction on the boxes for our raised beds that will go in the garden area to the right. We will be doing our own version of the Square Foot Garden. I appreciate where they are going with the concept but the one-size-fits-all approach is difficult to swallow. Our biggest deviations from the plan will be the growing medium and box sizes. I like my boxes to have a little height just because I think they look better and the soil mix we currently use works just fine for our purposes.

To the left of the property sits my little greenhouse waiting to be filled with seedling flats in anticipation of Spring. We have an entire shoe box flowing over with seeds that we purchased and then a shoe box of seeds that I already had. Now the trick is going to be figuring out which ones we want to plant.
