TGIF - What's Poppin' Update

I tried really hard to be lazy and not get into the newer stuff coming up but I have been trying harder to keep a log of this year's gardening exploits, if not only for myself. So I dug up a pencil and grabbed one of those credit card offer envelopes and headed out to the greenhouse. Junk mail envelopes make great notepads, by the way. They make even better mulch and packing material once they are shredded.

We have sown a lot of seed over the past few weeks and when I get a minute, I am going to create a table. Briefly though, it is March 5th and we now have new babies! The variety of hybrid and heirloom zinnia germinated rather quickly and are now about an inch tall. We also dropped more catnip seed so I have a few more of those. Also making a showing are red mums, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, tarragon, viola, verbena, maiden pinks, cosmos, brandywine and Early Girl tomato, and Shasta daisy.

A lot of our seedlings are yet to make a peep but most, if not all of what has already sprouted came really early compared to when they were expected. The zinnia took only two days to start pushing up the soil and some had fully sprouted by the third.

That wraps up the quick update on what's poppin'. Stay tuned for a more detailed report in the near future!
